We did another daddy photo shoot today. It came out quite nice, but was done later in the day hence the darker lighting (Adin is NOT a fan of flash photography and then all the pictures have a grimace instead of a true Adin face).
Today was the one day this week that wasn't jam packed with stuff to do - however I got a lot done including organizing the nursery closet (my mom and Shannon know first hand what a hot mess that was! I was hoping to tackle it when my mom was here but we were so busy we didn't get around to it). I of course made a huge mess before making it better - but it looks fairly nice. I also unrolled all of the diapers from the diaper cakes I received at my shower. I then separated them by size (or guessed size cause not all of them were labelled) and got the size 1's ready for whenever Adin decides to get that big. The bottom drawer is now filled with size 1's and towels/washcloths.
I also had a fail with dinner prep - I envisioned a bean soup with many different types of beans and some broth and chopped veggies thrown in. Maybe pasta added in. However that is not what I got inside my crock pot. I won't even go in to detail of what did occur because it just wasn't good. Additionally I threw some chicken breasts in stonewear in the over with some orange marmalade on top. Then I over cooked it. It would have been good...if it wasn't overcooked. So, I'm going to continue to work on the planning and cooking dinners whilst taking care of an infant.
Adin was stuffy during sleep last night and while I unrolled the diapers I had him in the nursery with my with the humidifier going. Shortly after that, as I was looking up his nose (don't ask), I got inspired to get my snot sucker out that I snagged from the hospital (okay, I snagged three) and went to work. Guess which picture depicts the snot strings that I pulled from his nose! It's gross, I know, but this blog documents our family so I thought it should be included.
An account of my day, my life, my thoughts, my hopes, my fears, and looking towards the future.

March 5th
Adin had a pediatrician appointment today. He weighs a whopping 6 lbs 4 oz!! That's a growth of 6 ounces in just 4 days!! He was also roughly 19 inches long. When his new stats were put on the growth chart his head circumference is on the curve for typical babies while his height and weight are below the curve. On the preterm curve his stats look great! I also made sure to get a shot of Adin's shoulder while he was close to nakey in the ped's office to show how hairy it still is :)
This ped's appointment was not only to get updated stats but also to get the 2nd Hep B shot. He did pretty well with the whole appointment, of course some crying after the shot, but this next picture had me cracking up. Once he was in the car seat this was the face he gave me. I thought it was priceless given that he just had been traumatized.
It's just amazing how much he grows each day! His face is looking older! I talked with my friend Stacey after this appointment and made a statement regarding how huge he is - she reminded me that her daughter had 2 lbs on him at birth! He's still so little :)
Jesse and I keep saying how much we need to get pictures of us with him. Every time we are around someone else we put in a plug for taking pictures of us with him. However it never gets done because we are all distracted by the little nugget. So, I decided to just start taking pictures. No time like the present to document a moment!
And again, he just looks older! Wow!

Today I was fairly obsessed with Adin's toesies. They are just so perfect! Also, on days when we are not out on the town I put him in these oh-so-handy gowns that are long enough to more than cover his feet and open on the bottom to make diaper changes easier. From where I was sitting on the couch I could catch glimpses of his feet so I decided to capture those on my phone.

March 3rd
Today we had a super busy day! We dropped Nana off at the airport in the morning, went home for about 2 hours where I pumped, Jesse went to the gym, and then we bathed Adin before showering ourselves. We have gotten pretty good at speeding up our typical routines. Then we headed over to the Westfield's for the birthday celebration of "The Brothers" (one of which is our godson). Our next stop was down at Eric and Laura's where Jesse's parents met us to have some snuggle time with Adin. After that, Adin made his first appearance at a restaurant - Uno's! He did fantastic - slept the whole time. The last picture was taken because the way that the bink fell out of his mout made him look like Elvis.
Additionally, on our way down to the airport we saw this truck and needed to take a picture of it to later share with Eric - since he is a red head :)
Lots of people have mentioned that if Adin sleeps in the same position often that his head will change shape, thus we are having him side sleep on each side at least once a day to even things out.

March 1st
I started typing February and realized its not. It's so weird that on january 31st I had my baby. I wasn't pregnant at all in February and now I'm started my second post-partum month. It's very weird. Oh, and by the way - I should still be pregnant for almost two weeks!
We had a visit from the nurse today. Adin is 5 lbs 14 oz. the nurse commented how advanced he is with the amount of time he is able to be awake and how alert he is. She continues to be impressed with his growth and the goal is to get to 6.5 lbs - then she thinks he's just going to flourish.
He is also eating almost 3 oz at a time! He's such a little piggy! He held his own bottle again today however he upped the ante by one-handing the bottle.
